New Chinese for Children is a series of elementary textbooks specifically designed to teach Chinese to
children overseas.
The series is comprised of 3 books, each book consisting of 20 lessons;

New Chinese for Children 1 is aimed at teaching children correct Chinese pronunciation and the four
tones through a wide range of pronunciation exercises,

New Chinese for Children 2 and 3 deal mainly with basic sentence patterns, all of which are simple
and can be easily understood by children.

Each book is accompanied by an download online audio in MP3 format of the texts spoken in
standard Putonghua.
The texts are in the form of dialogues, and are enlivened by riddles, nursery rhymes, games and drawings.
After completing this series, children will command a vocabulary of over 300 words and will be able to
communicate in Chinese in day to day situations, and will lay a solid foundation for their future Chinese
language study.
Each book has an appendix that includes Teacher's Notes and Vocabulary List. The Teacher's Notes explain
the grammar points of each lesson and will be useful guide for teachers. The vocabulary list covers the key
