Jewish Historiography on the Ottoman Empire and Its Jewry From the Late 15.ct to the Early Decades

The presentation of the Ottoman Empire and its Jewish subjects by Jewish historians in the long time span between the end of the fifteenth century is one of the most fascinating examples of Jewish historiography in the Middle Age and early Modern Age. Two major factors mark the extraordinary character of these historical writings. First, these writings, especially those written in the period between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, constitute one of the rare instances of the remarkably barren genre of Jewish history writing, and they typify the characteristics of Jewish interest in history.
